Making a statement with custom packaging

You want your brand to be meaningful and to connect with customers. That’s why first impressions count. The packaging is as much a part of your brand as the product itself. Custom packaging can have a lasting impact and is a chance to engage with and delight your customers.

The challenge

Our client is one of the world’s leading wine producers, with a range of well-known market leading brands. Recent market research had shown that wines presented in a luxury box were outselling those with no additional packaging. We were approached by our client to create custom packaging for two of their best-selling brands. They wanted to boost their sales with an attractive, standout piece of packaging that would be at the forefront of consumers’ minds when they came to make their purchase.

The blp solution

It was vital we created custom packaging that not only had shelf presence but would stay true to the values of the premium brand.

We created a custom design made from solid folding carton board, with a crash lock base and webbed corner closure, adding the much-needed strength to the box whilst holding the wine bottle securely in place.

Every aspect of the packaging design reiterated the high-quality wine inside. From the deep red colour of the box to the custom printed finishes. Soft touch varnish was used to achieve a soft velvety feel to the box, much like the texture of the wine itself.

Gold foil was applied to create a luxurious and distinctive design. Coupled with custom inline spot UV printing, the effect of the final product was truly stunning.

The results

With nearly 40 years’ printing experience, we were able to use our knowledge of finishing techniques to make their products really shine. Since introducing the packaging, our client has seen an uplift of sales in both brands.

We were thrilled to have been part of such a successful project and look forward to working with them on future projects.

This helps keep costs within budget and reduces overall lead times, which is particularly important for time-sensitive projects.

Finding a sustainable alternative to plastic packaging
