The ability to see a project through from design to delivery
blp’s in-house capabilities mean we can complete a combination of services on one site, from packaging development, printed packaging and co-packing to storage and mailing, giving us full control over every stage of a project. This helps keep costs within budget and reduces overall lead times, which is particularly important for time-sensitive projects.
The challenge
blp was approached by a well-known print management company with a contract packing and direct mail project. Their client, a renowned university, wanted to send new students a welcome pack of ‘goodies’ to celebrate the start of their first year.
With the new term fast approaching, the project was time sensitive and had a strict budget in place. They needed us to fulfil a range of services, including packaging development.
The custom box would need to fit several promotional items, but not exceed the size of a large letter, because the packs would be posted to students’ home addresses.
The blp solution
We set about designing a custom box made of solid folding carton board to accommodate the various ‘goodies’ and provided a CAD sample for client approval.
Our in-house printing capabilities took care of the leaflets, letters and booklets to be included. Once ready, they were moved to our designated contract packing area, along with the client supplied promotional items. Working to the client brief, the boxes were carefully packed and sealed by our experienced team.
As an ISO 27001 certified company, we follow strict guidelines when handling personal data to make sure we meet all regulations. The data provided by the client was ‘sorted’ into postcode areas in our secure data processing area. Pre-sorting the data in this way will provide cost savings to the postal element of the project.
We operate in a 100% mailing environment – this means we can track every welcome pack to make sure all items are sent to the correct recipient, giving our client the confidence that every student received their pack.
The results
The student packs were delivered on time and within budget much to the customer’s delight.

Finding a sustainable alternative to plastic packaging
With sustainability continuing to be at the forefront of consumers’ minds when making their purchase decisions, it’s never been more important for companies to show positive changes. Alternative substrates produced from recycled, or recyclable materials, are some of the many options available for consideration.
Delivering print and co-packing from one place
When it comes to co-packing services, many clients just don’t have the in-house capabilities to complete the project themselves. With a designated packing facility, our skilled packing teams make light work of some of the most demanding projects.
